Of Japanese descent, Kiyoshi attended primary and secondary school at Louisiana Union School. Later, he graduated from Vancouver Film School as an animation artist.
He enrolled the Faculty of Arts of the Catholic University of Peru. Uncontented with the escolasticics of artsi farsi, Kiyoshi decided to leave the university and moved to Tokyo and then to Vancouver, Canada to follow studies in cinema. As a freelancer, Kohatsu worked on several projects for Dreamworks, Warner Brothers, Music Television, Nickelodeon and Disney,
Productions in which he has participated include Gary Larson"s Tales from the Far Side, Disney"s Beauty and the Beast, Winnie the Pooh, Mucha Lucha, Yakkity Yak, and The Ren and Stimpy Show.
He also created a series of animated short films for Disney Mobile Japan, which Kiyoshi wrote, produced and directed using Australia"s Liquid Animation as production outsource base.
Today, Kiyoshi lives and works as a freelance animator in Tokyo joining the ranks of legendary studio MUSHI PRODUCTION, founded in 1967 by Astroboy creator Osamu Tezuka.
