Graduated from Keio University in 1927.
While teaching at his alma mater, was sent to Europe and America for study and thereafter was promoted professor. Lectured on history of economic thought, science of finance and economic theories of France; meantime taught also at Tokyo University. Became president of Japan Rubber Company in 1948. Was slated for post of Director of Economic Stabilization Board in the Yosnida Cabinet but declined the post. Accompanied Premier Yoshida on the San Francisco Peace Treaty Delegation.
