Career
Kiyoshi Watanabe fought for the Imperial Army during the Boshin war in Kantō and Tōhoku districts (1868). After the Meiji Restoration joined the new government and was appointed member of Senate (1881), then Governor of Fukushima Prefecture and member of House of Peers.
