Raschke received a Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Poona in 1955.
Raschke began his career as a research associate at Technical University of Berlin in 1956. A year later he took a position of a scientist at German Potash Producers. Also Klaus held the same position at Schering AG from 1958 to 1962. Then in 1962, he became a research associate and lecturer at the University of Giessen.
In 1967, Raschke was appointed a professor at Michigan State University. Since 1978 he has been a professor at the University of Göttingen. Nowadays Klaus is a professor emeritus at the same university.
Raschke is a member of American Association for the Advancement of Science, American Association for Plant Physiologists and Göttingen Academy of Sciences and Humanities.
On December 23, 1960 Raschke married Gerda Timme. They have 3 children.
