Klavdy Lebedev was born on October 28, 1852 in Russian Federation in a peasant family.
Lebedev studied at the Stroganov School of Technical Drawing (first half of 1870) and Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture from 1875 to 1881 where he was the student of Perov and Sorokin.
Lebedev painted historical and genre paintings, landscapes, portraits. Many of his works were created in watercolor technique. In the 1890s-1900s he worked in the mass illustrated weeklies "Pictorial Review", "World illustration", "Niva". Moreover, he participated in illustration II, III, IV volumes of N.I. Kutepova "Royal and imperial hunting. End of XVII and XVIII Century".
Lebedev also taught painting at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture from 1890 to 1894.
In 1908-1909 he created series of illustrations to the Old and New Testament.
Klavdy Lebedev died on October 4, 1916, in Moscow, Russian Federation.
