Riisager, Knudage was born on March 6, 1897 in Port Kunda. Son of Henrik Emil and Henrikke (Olufsen) H.

Examen political science U. Copenhagen (Denmark), 1921. Student music, 1916-1924. Student Paul Le Flem, Paris, 1923-1924, Albert Roussel, Paris, 1923-1924, Hermann Grabner, Leipzig (Germany), 1932.

Doctor of Music (honorary), University Seattle (Washington), 1972.

Career

With Ministry Finances Denmark, Copenhagen, 1925-1947, chief, 1939-1947. Director Royal Conservatory Denmark, Copenhagen, 1956-1967. Composer numerous works for orchestra, including several overtures, 4 symphonies and various instrumental combinations.

Ballets include Quarrtsiluni, 1942, Etudes, 1948, Moonreindeer, 1958, Ballet royal (for wedding Princess heritier Margrethe), 1967, others. Opera buffa, Susanne, 1950. Unaccompanied works, especially for piano, violin.
