He succeeded his father to the family occupation as head of a dry goods store. He held additional posts of chairman of Susaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry, representative of Nagano Prefectural League of Textile Retailers' Associations and director of Nagano Prefectural Commerce & Industry Credit Association and thereafter became member of Nagano Prefectural Assembly (since 1951) andpresident of Nakano Shoji Kaisha (Nakano Trading Company).
