In 1916 Kohachi Kurihara joined Tokyo Textile Manufacturers Association and was sent to America on a study tour.
Kohachi Kurihara moved to Tokyo to enter the textile business and at the same time studied theory and practice of textile weaving under professors at technical schools. Later at the age of 26-27 Kohachi Kurihara designed new fashions for men’s wear. Kohachi was the first to manufacture and market serge in Kanto district. Succeeded in perfecting muslin in 1904. In 1916 he joined Tokyo Textile Manufacturers Association and was sent to America on a study tour. Returning home 2 years later he founded Kurihara Textile Company and the same year was elected member of Tokyo City Assembly. He was the director of Chugai Textile and other companies.
