Koichi Okuma entered the defunct Okuma Tekkojo (Steel Plant) and after successive promotions became its president (1948) and president of Asahi-Okuma Kogyo Kaisha (Industrial Company) (since 1953). Held additional posts of member of Nagoya Rotary Club and councilor of Nihon Sen-i Kikai Gakukai (Japan Textile Machinery Science Society).
