Koichi Toshikura was born in 1905 in Kyoto, Japan.
Koichi Toshikura attended Doshisha University.
Since 1925, wrote articles on drama for many years as consultant to the magazine Engei Gah and weekly magazine Shukan Asahi.
During his long career as critic and writer, published several biographical books. In 1944, became chief secretary of the Japan Drama Association, and engaged in editing the magazine "Screen Stage" (1947). Then became chief editor of magazine Engeki Kai (Drama World) (1950).
Wrote the books "Story of Mitsugoro on Dancing and Drama Play," "Guide Book of Actions of Joruri" and "Memo of Sadanji Ichikawa." Also wrote jointly with Seiseien Ihara the book, Kabuki.
