Engaged in petroleum refinery business and established the Hayayama Oil Company (1935). With establishment of the Toa Oil Company, he was appointed manager of the general affairs department but in 1940 became managing director of the Nichibei Petroleum Company. Became director of the Showa Petroleum Company and assumed the present post (1946).
