Konstantin DERZHAVIN, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Russian literary critic and translator. theater critic; professor of Leningrad University. correspondent member, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences from 1946.

Background

DERZHAVIN, Konstantin was born on February 18, 1903 in Batumi. Son of the famous historian N. S. Derzhavin.

Education

Saint St. Petersburg State University.

Career

1918-1920 actor at People's Comedy Theater. Secretary, Collegium. Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic People's Commissariat of Education.

1921-1922 stage director, Ligova Drama Theater and New Drama Theater. Repertoire manager, Academy Drama Theater. Worked at State Theater, Music and Cinematography Research Institute.

Active at the Institute of Russian Literature and the Slavic Institute, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Academy of Sciences. 1945-1946 lectured at Sofia University, Bulgaria. Did research on history of lit and theater of France, Spain and Slavic countries.

Wrote screenplay for ludushka Golovlev and libretto for ballet Gayane. Translated from Spanish novelette "Louisiana Vida de Lasarillo dc Tormes” (1931. 2nd ed 1955) and F. Quevedo y Villegas’ novel ’’Historia y Vida del Buscon” (1950).
