1912 graduate Volynian Theological Seminary. 1916 graduate Moscow Theological Academy.
1916 ordained priest. 1916-1919 taught Scripture and Latin at secondary educational establishments in Slavyansk. 1945-1951 dean, Street Vladimir Cathedral in Kiev and steward, Patriarchal Exarch of All Ukraine.
1948-1949 also taught Greek and psychology at Kiev Theological Seminary. 1948 member, Moscow Patriarchy dcleg at enthronement of Rumanian Patriarch Justinian. 1951 member, similar deleg at enthronement of Makariy, Metropolitan of Warsaw and All Poland.
From 1951 lecturer and head, Chair of Moral Scripture, Moscow Theological Academy and Seminary. 1956 took part in theological discussion with reps of Anglican Church. 1957 attended World Inter-Religious Peace Conference in India.
1958 attended Lambeth Church Conference, London. 1958 went to Syria to attend funeral of Alexander III, Patriarch of Antioch. 1958 visited Yugoslavia.
1959 attended 2nd World Christian Conference in Prague. 1959 also attended celebrations commemorating 600th jubilee of Street Gregory of Palama in Greece. 1960 accompanied Patriarch Aleksiy on his visit to the Holy Land.
1961 attended enthronement of Archbishop of Canterbury. Regularly received foreign clerics and dignitaries who visited the Moscow Theological Academy and talked with them on the “prosperity and flourishing state of the Russian Orthodox Church in the Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics”. Presidium member, Union of Soviet Societies for Friendship and Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries.
