Background
Konstantin Markovich Titov was born in a peasant’s family. He was engaged in farm job since childhood. In 1927 he was called up in the Red Army and served there for 10 years. In 1937 he took an external degree. During the Great Patriotic war K. Titov worked as a reporter in front newspapers. He was seriously wounded and that influenced his health for a long
time. After the war K. Titov lived in Minsk, was engaged in the activity of poetry section of the Writers’ Union of Belarus, helped the youth become proficient in poetry.
Career
Konstantin Titov began to publish his works in 1927 in army newspapers
(publications are not found). Since 1934 he published his works in Belarusian
newspapers. K. Titov’s poems are full of civil emotional content, frank
feelings, thoughtful mood, philosophy. He is a lyric. He paid his attention to
the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic war, workers, social and personal relationships.
But he did not over-simplify all that. K. Titov wrote for children (collected
fairytales written in verse “Jakub’s kasha”, collected stories “The Way Across
The Forest” etc.). Also he translated into Russian collected poems “Snowflakes”
by M. Smargovich, trilogy “Go To Life” by R. Sabalenka, some other works by
Belarusian poets.
