He graduated from the geographical faculty of Voronezh State University in 1939, but devoted himself to journalism.
From 1941 he worked in Arkhangelsk. From 1944 he worked as an editor of Voronezh book publishing house, from 1949 - executive secretary of the newspaper “Kommuna”.
From 1951, he worked in the press department in the editorial staff of the newspaper "Pravda" in Moscow. He had been published as a poet from the pre-war years (in the almanac "Literary Voronezh").
