Kosaku Shinkai

Background

Kosaku Shinkai was born in 1887, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan.

Education

Graduated from Higher Department of Butsuri Gakko (Institute of Physics) (1911).

Career

In 1911 entered Tokyo Denki Kaisha (Tokyo Electric Company) and, when that company was merged into Toshiba Company, became chief of its Research Institute (1939).

Served then as chief of Technical Department of Matsuda Branch of Shibaura Electric Company and thereafter became director, managing director, president (1947) and then counselor (1949) of Toshiba Company. The same year was appointed chairman of Tungalay Industry Company and resigned as counselor of Toshiba Company, assuming a new post as its non-regular staff member.
