Koshichiro Kiyofuji first came to public attention as an associate of Ryohei Uchida at Tokyo, where they rendered great help to Sun Yat-sens movement for the creation of a revolution in China (1890). Koshichiro Kiyofuji also took active part in the Philippine independence movement. He participated in Wuchang Revolution with Ryohei Uchida (1912), and when the Repuouc of China was founded was recom¬mended to become political adviser to Sung Chia-jen, the leader of the Kuomintang, but could not take the post as Sung was shortly after assassinated. Late in life, he turned publisher and compiled "Standard Self-Studying Dictionary of Chinese Characters", "Great Dictionary of Characters" and several others.
