Tade Kotsuru was born on June 10, 1906 in Tokyo, Japan.
From about 11, Tade studied Kiyomoto and Nagauta. At 21 she was permitted to use the stage name of Ume-Tsuruha by Umekichi Kiyomoto. Since 1924 Kotsuru has studied under Kocho Tade.
In 1927, Tade began to use the name of Kotsuru Tade and then afterward has been playing an active part in the world of radio and record.
