Background
Industrialist. Born in Shiga Prefecture. Left Doshisha Middle School without graduating (1921) and then continued studies at home under an American tutor. Became auditor, managing director, senior managing director and then president (1943) of Nihon Ishiwata-ban Seizo Kaisha (Japan Asbestos Plate Manufacturing Company). Served also as officer of Showa Cement Company, Hokkaido Ishiwata
Kaihatsu Kaisha (Asbestos Development Company) and Nozawa Slate Company in Shanghai. President of Nozawa Asbestos & Cement Company (since 1943). Made official tours of Europe and America several times (from 1929). Holds additional post of director Kobe Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
