Background
Kozo Takashina was born in 1864. He was the third son of Nariaki Takashina, a retainer of the former clan of Toyo-oka, Hyogo Prefecture.

Career
At the young age of 24 he was appointed professor for Japanese classics at the Hyog o Institute. It was mainly due to his efforts that the All Japan Shinto Priests Association was formed. He later became chief priest of the Shijonawate and Hirota shrines. He passed away while he headed the branch institute for the study of Japanese classics.
