Background

Kozuru was the daughter of Sachu Matsuoka.

Career

In a life devoted herself to uplifting juvenile education and founded a Terakoya, private school, which soon became the center of education for neighboring villages.

At the same time, she began taking an active part in social affairs and did much to discourage the habit of abortions among village women. Michiyasu Inoue, a waka poet, Kiinio Yanagiaa, a historian, Shizuo Matsuoka, a linguist and Eikyu Matsuoka, a painter, are her grandchildren.
