I have three fabulous children and have written five books of which I am very proud. I have many wonderful friends, including many former students.
Author of 4 prize-winning books: The Heart of Altruism (1996), The Hand of Compassion (2004), Ethics in an Age of Terror and Genocide (2012), A Darkling Plain: Stories of Conflict and Humanity during the war (2016. Founder of the UCI Interdisciplinary Center for the Scientific Study of Ethics and Morality, President of the International Society of Political Psychology, VP of APSA.
I am not traditionally religious. My father described himself as an existentialist humanist and my mother as a transcendentalist Taoist. I believe in goodness, beauty, truth and justice. When my brother, Jamie, died of leukemia in 1978, he asked to have written on his tombstone: He loved his wife, Lynn, his family and all those who showed a spark of human kindness. I agree.
