Career
She first began performing professionally in college. After college she moved to Nashville, Tennessee where she continued performing live and started working as a session musician. Upon returning to Minnesota in 1989 Mooney began working with various Minnesota musicians including Peter Himmelman, Martin Zellar, Beat The Clock, John Munson and George Scot McKelvey.
Mooney’s solo debut, titled Living Alone, was released in 1998.
The self-titled Kristin Mooney, came out in 2004. Mooney’s third Civil Defense, titled Hydroplane, was released in 2007.
Mooney"s voice was often heard on the Columbia Broadcasting System drama Judging Amy with music written and performed by longtime collaborator Peter Himmelman.
