Kuemon Kezori

A legendary character from Monzaemon Chikamatsus famous play Hakata Kojord Namimakura, which was first staged at Takemotoza Theater at Osaka (1719). According to the story, a drug peddler by the name of Soshichi smuggles himself on board the ship of a pirate named Kuemon Kezori. Soshichi is discovered and thrown overboard, but he survives and comes across the pirate again at the gay quarters of Hakata.
