Kujo Michizane was born in 1874. He was the eldest son of Prince Michitaka Kujo.

In 1889, Kujo Michizane was sent to Europe for studies.
Career
Upon return Kujo Michizane was employed by the Imperial Household as a master of ceremonies. Later he became grand master of rituals. Kujo Michizane served the Imperial Court for 38 years.
