He directed the rebuilding of the Great Buddha Hall of the Tiidaiji Temple in Nara which was completed in 1195. The architectural style was called Tenjiku (Indian) fashion, which was featured by South Chinese traits.
He also built the middle gate of the Todaju Temple. The Tenjiku style, which was often adopted for temple architecture in the Kamakura Period, was established by Kunimune.
