Background
Kuretake Aso was an eldest son of Korezumi, he succeeded his father in the post upon his death (1364).

He followed his father in a campaign against Takauji Ashikaga at the request of Princ e Morinaga (Daito-no - miya). Afte r his father' s death, he fought in Bung o Provinc e (Oita Prefecture ) and elsewhere, together with the Kikuchis, a family of warrior s loyal to the South Imperial Dynasty. After the power of the
Kikuchi s waned, he entered their province of Chikuzen (Fukuoka Prefecture ) and was killed in a battle at Hiruuchi.
