Kurobe Ono was born about 1700.
Kurobe Ono held the same rank as Yoshio Oishi, chief of the 47 Loyal Ronin of Ako. When his lord, Naganori Asano, was ordered to commit hara-lciri by the Shogun for wounding Yoshinaka Kira in Edo Castle (1701), he disagreed with Oishi on the matter of distributing the clan's funds among the retainers. He left Ako and what became of him afterward is not known. He was said to be clever at making money.
In the Kabuki play Chushingura, he figures as Kudayu Ono, a greedy poltroon. It is said after the vendetta of the Loyal Ronin he was so scorned that he disappeared from the public eye.
