Kurt Rudolf Fischer Edit Profile


Kurt Rudolf Fischer was an Austrian Jewish philosopher, teaching in the USA and Austria. During World War II he emigrated to Shanghai in 1940 where he became Chinese boxing champion. Later Kurt Rudolf Fischer studied philosophy in Berkeley at the University of California.


From 1967 to 1980 Kurt Rudolf Fischer served as professor of philosophy at the University of Pennsylvania in Millerville. Since 1979 Fischer has been professor at the University of Vienna. He was awarded the Gold Medal for Services to the City of Vienna (2000) and the Austrian Cross of Honour for Science and Art, 1st class (2001). He died in the United States 2014, at the age of 92.
