Dubas was born and raised in Sault Ste.
Marie, Ontario. Marie Greyhounds from 1960-1967. Dubas attended Brock University, graduating in sports management.
While still at school, Dubas worked as a scout for the OHL Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds.
At the age 24, Dubas was hired as the General Manager of the Greyhounds, where he demonstrated skill at evaluating young prospective players.
In this position, he also hired Sheldon Keefe as coach of the Greyounds.
He was hired as Assistant General Manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs by President Brendan Shanahan on July 22, 2014 at the age of 28, replacing Claude Loiselle. He specializes in team improvement through statistical analysis. In April 2015, after the firing of Dave Nonis, Dubas became one of two interim General Managers of the Leafs.
His role includes evaluating prospective new players.
