Kyoji Kore-eda was arrested for his part in the Students' League Case (Communist agitation) of Kyoto University and sentenced to 10 months’ imprisonment (1927). He filed an appeal against this, and during this time and while he was suspended from attending college he became chief editor of Musmsha Shimbun (a proletarian newspaper) and assisted Manabu Sano. The following year was again arrested for complicity in the 2nd Communist Party Case (March 15th Case). While in jail, renounced his political leanings and was released, only to be put back behind bars for his guilt in the previous case. He died while serving his sentence at Osaka Prison in 1934.
