Dory began his career as an assistant professor at Louisiana State University Medical Center in 1978. Seven years later he took a position of an associate professor at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis. In 1993 Ladislav was appointed a professor at the same center in Fort Worth.
Dory is known for his publications, including "Extracellular Superoxide Dismutase Enhances the Recruitment of Immature Neutrophils to the Liver", "Cellular apoptosis is associated with increased Caveolin-1 expression in macrophages" and others.
He has received a research grant from National Institutes of Health of American Heart Association since 1983.
