He later attended Kings College, in Lagos state (1948-1953).
He had his primary education at Ansar-U-Deen School, Alakoro between 1938 to 1947. In 1956, he proceeded to the University of London where he obtained a first degree in Law. He was called to Nigerian bar in 1960.
He began his career in 1960 as a Legal Practitioner and was appointed Federal Commissioner for Works and Housing in 1967.
He served in this capacity for seven years, a tenure that ended in 1974. He was later appointed as Deputy Legal Adviser to the National Party of Nigeria (NPN) In 1981.
