In 1991, Lara received her Bachelor of Fine Arts at the Faculty of Cuenca, expanding it with her stay in 1993 at the University of Lisbon, Faculty of Fine Arts.
Between 1993 and 1994 Lara was invited by Werner Büttner as an artist to the Hamburg Art Faculty, and in 1994 she held the workshop at the International Museum of Electrography of Cuenca. Lara Almarcegui has exhibited since 1995 in Portugal, Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy, Croatia and Great Britain.
Lara has obtained various grants and scholarships for creation, including the Government of Aragon in 1995, the Fundación Marcelino Botín between 1998 and 1999, and Fonds Beeldende Kunst in Amsterdam, among others. In 2008, she was awarded the Critical Eye Art Award. At the same time, he has given different workshops and conferences both in Spain and elsewhere in Europe. In 2013 Lara represented Spain at the Venice Biennale, filling the Spanish Pavilion with several mountains of different building materials. She currently lives and works in Rotterdam, Holland.
