She worked as an assistant in the ambulatory clinic of Avilés and since 1976 in the Hospital of St. Augustine, where she was a member of Workers Commissions during the 1980's. Member of the Communist Party of Spain since 1973, during the first democratic elections in 1979 she was elected to the seat of councilor of Avilés, this case repeated in the municipal elections of 1983 and 1987. In the regional elections of 1991 she was elected deputy to the General Junta of the Principality of Asturias from the Left coalition. She was the president of the Chamber until she resigned on 8 of January, 1993.Vocational training in health care.

She is a Member of the Communist Party of Spain since 1973. In 2003 was re-elected and was appointed Minister of Housing and welfare of Asturias. In 2007 she left her position and decided to leave active politic. Then she was nominated by IU of Asturias in the general elections of 2008, but didn't get seat.
