Lawrence J. Hatab was born on June 12, 1946, in Brooklyn, New York, United States.
Lawrence J. Hatab studied at Villanova University where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1968. Three years later, he gained a Master of Arts degree.
Then, Hatab pursued his studies at Fordham University which provided him with Doctor of Philosophy degree in 1976.
Lawrence J. Hatab started his professional career of an educator at Old Dominion University, Norfolk, in 1976. His philosophical courses emphasized on Friedrich Nietzsche, Martin Heidegger, Aristotle, 19th-century philosophy, 20th-century philosophy, ancient philosophy, myth and philosophy, philosophy of art, and other aspects of the field.
In addition to his teaching activity, he has taken an active part in the administrative work of the institution. So, he chaired its departments from 1994 to 2000, and from 2001 to 2004. He also served on Faculty Senate in a capacity of an executive committee, chair of the committee on Undergraduate studies and on Promotion and Tenure. He retired from teaching in 2016.
Besides, Lawrence J. Hatab has read a lot on various academic conferences and has authored many book reviews and essays related to the philosophical domain in addition to his own publications. He has served as a reviewer for the National Endowment for the Humanities, Cambridge University Press, Open Court Publishing Co., and publishing houses of many American universities.
He has contributed to such periodicals and academic journals, as Continental Philosophy Review, Research in Phenomenology, Journal of Philosophical Research, New Nietzsche Studies, Epoché: A Journal for the History of Philosophy, and others.
