Herman, Lebrecht Frederick was born on October 2, 1761 in Güsten, Germany. Son of Johann Friedrich Gottlieb and Dorothea (Wartman) Herrmann.

Education

Attended U. Halle, 1781-1784.

Career

Ordained to ministry German Reformed Church for Coetus of Philadelphia, 1786. Pastor at Easton, Plainfield, Dryland, Greenwich (all Pennsylvania), 1786-1790. Pastor, Falkner Swamp, Pottstown, Pennsylvania, 1848, organized “Swamp College” which gave instruction in classical langs., exigesis and dogmatics.

Organized (with friends) Synod of Free German Reformed Congregations of Pennsylvania, 1822-1837, returned synod to main body of German Reformed Church, 1837.
