With her appointment as Executive Director-Human Resources in June 2007, she became the first woman on the Management Committee of Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL). On 15 December 2015, she succeeded Doug Baillie as the global CHRO of Unilever. Her hometown is Kolhapur,Maharshtra.
After graduating from XLRI, Jamshedpur, she started working at three different factories in Kolkata, Ambattur, Tamil Nadu and Taloja, Maharashtra.
