Leendert Pieter van den Blink was a Dutch lawyer in Amsterdam who became a partner of Stibbe, Blaisse & De Jong. He was admitted to the Amsterdam bar in 1956 and was later chairman of the board of the Amsterdam social-service association Hulp voor Onbehuisden.
Background
Leendert Pieter van den Blink was born on 14 September 1928 in Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands. The city's municipal authorities had founded the Athenaeum Illustre there in 1632, an institution whose later name was the University of Amsterdam.
Education
His documented university record is the University of Amsterdam, linked with his admission to the bar in 1956.
The institution traces its origins to the Athenaeum Illustre, which the Amsterdam municipal authorities founded in 1632 as a school for advanced teaching. For more than two centuries it could not award degrees, and in 1877 it became the Municipal University of Amsterdam. It was still known by that name in 1956, and it became a national university under its present name in 1961.
Van den Blink was admitted to the Amsterdam bar in 1956 and later worked as a partner at Stibbe, Blaisse & De Jong. The Dutch part of the firm was founded in Amsterdam in 1911, and its later history is closely connected with the Belgian practice founded by Henri Simont Sr.
A lawyer who later trained at the firm under him described the practice as Stibbe, Blaisse & De Jong. In 1991 that Amsterdam firm merged with Simont & Simont in Brussels, creating Stibbe & Simont, which was later shortened to Stibbe.
Membership
Hulp voor Onbehuisden was founded in Amsterdam in 1904 by Tjitte Jonker, a former Salvation Army soldier, and his wife, Jannetta Cornelia Clauzer. The association's name means "Help for the Homeless," and it was organized as a membership association that quickly attracted hundreds of members.
Van den Blink joined the association's board in 1960, when Oncko Wicher Heldring was its director, a position Heldring held from 1957 to 1980. The association merged in 2000 with the Prof. dr. A. Querido Foundation, forming HVO-Querido, which continues to provide shelter and support to homeless people in the Amsterdam region.
