Orion the Skateboard Kid

When was the last time you wanted a review of the sky but didn't know where to start? The story of "Orion the Skateboard Kid" is that and more. Like the mythology of old, Orion tells a story of heroes, conflict, honor and respect using the sky as an illustration. Orion and her friends find themselves in trouble with the law after almost being hit by a van while riding their skateboards in the Pentagon National Bank parking lot. While pondering her problems that night, Orion recognizes the Milky Way in the sky and imagines it as a path of shining stars. She realizes that a separate path--a safe place apart from motorized traffic--is exactly what she and her friends need. Orion and her friends resolve to build a skateboard park and bike path in their north Florida town where they can ride their skateboards without fear. In the process, they learn how much hard work is involved in making their dream come true. They must show the support of the entire community to get public funding for the "Milky Way Trail and Skate Park."
