(Lena Horne's recorded work has been somewhat overshadowed...)
Lena Horne's recorded work has been somewhat overshadowed by her Hollywood roles and her work in civil rights activism during the 1960s, but on this wonderful 2CD set, Jasmine focus on her music. Collected together here are four of her albums that she released between 1957 and 1962: 'Stormy Weather', '...At The Waldorf Astoria', 'Lena At The Sands' and 'Lena Lonely & Alive'. This is a great mixture of studio and live music that enables the listener to get a great insight into her singing and musical ability. Until now this period of Lena's career has been under-represented on CD and hopefully this will go some way to rectify the perception that she was just an actor. Fully detailed liner notes with biography and career achievements.
