Came to the United States in early childhood. Graduated from Saint Louis Central High School, 1860. Doctor of Laws, McKendree College.

Career

Served private to major in Missouri volumes, Union Army, 1861-1865. Taught in public schools, Saint Louis, 1866-1867. Admitted to bar, April 1, 1867, at Saint Louis.

Attorney school board by election, 1880-1890.

Judge Probate Court, Saint Louis, 1895-1899, declining renomination. Resumed law practice.

Commander-in-chief G.A.R., 1900-1901. President Missouri Vicksburg National Military Park Commission, 1911-1917.
