In 1890, Bernard and Leon bought land form Auguste Gillard so they could have waterfront property for their sawmill. 1891 saw the sawmill"s location change from its original site to the lakefront property. This store later became Lequime Brothers and Company
In 1892, Leon purchased the boat Penticton from Thomas Ellis and Thomas Shorts for five thousand dollars.
Leon Avenue in Kelowna bears his name.
