Helmsley, Leona Mindy was born on July 4, 1920 in New York City.


Former model; vice president Pease & Elliman, New York City, 1962-1969. President Sutton & Towne Residential, 1967-1970. Senior vice president Helmsley Spear, 1970-1972, Brown, Harris, Stevens, New York City, 1970-1972.

President, Chief Executive Officer, chairman board Helmsley Hotels, Inc., 1980—2007. On December 30, 1989, was sentenced to four years in prison and fined $7.1 million for tax fraud. Started and served the prison sentence for tax fraud, 1992—1993.

Was released from home confinement, 1994.
