1914 graduate Medical Faculty, Kazan’University.
After graduate retained for postgraduate studies at North.A. Gerken’s surgical laboratory. Later worked at Leningrad Institute of Experimental Medical in I.P. Pavlov’s laboratory and also in South.P. Fyodorov’s surgical clinic (1921). In Pavlov’s laboratory did research on physiology of the auditory analyser which provided experimental basis for the resonance theory of hearing proposed by Helmholtz.
1931 sent on two-year assignment to Canada by Pavlov to work on principles of the pathogenesis of hardness of hearing. 1934 set up laboratory for physiology of the sensory organs, All-Union Institute of Experimental Medical, which he headed till his death and where he did detailed research on physiology of the auditory analyser. From 1937 professor, Department of Animal Physiology, Moscow University, lecturing on physiology of sensory organs.
Since religion offers a complete set of answers to the problems of purpose, morality, origins, or science, it discourages exploration of those areas by suppressing curiosity, denies its followers a broader perspective, and prevents social, moral and scientific progress.
