Leonid BULAKHOVSKY, USSR Philologist and slavist. Director, Potebnya Institute of Linguistics, Ukrainia Academy of Sciences, since 1944; full member, Ukrainia Academy of Sciences, since 1939; corresponding member, USSR Academy, of ScL, since 1946.


BULAKHOVSKY, Leonid was born in 1888.


1910 graduated Kharkov University.


1916-1917 assist, lecturer and Professor, Perm University. 1921-1943 Professor, Kharkov University. 1943-1944, Professor, Moscow University.

1946-1960 Head, Chair of Slavic Philology, Kiev University. 1946 in charge of drafting the system of Ukrainia orthography now in use.


Religion is bad because it makes people base the way they run their lives on a falsehood.


Every person has rights to express his or her opinion, but the opinion could be expressed if it was in accordance with the general interests of Soviet society.
