1915-1920 taught biology at Ufa high schools. 1921-1948 head, Physiology Department, Bekhterev Brain Institute, Leningrad. Company-ed, physiology section, 2nd ed of “Biomedical Engineering" (Large Medical Encyclopedia).
Member, ed council, journal “Fiziologicheskiy zhurnal USSR im. I.M. Sechenova”; 1925-1937 developed theory of two types of inhibition which emerge consecutively in the course of parabiosis. 1925 established basic quantitative law of treshhold parabiosis.
1937 studied phenomenon of restoring nerve and muscular functions (including the heart) by electr current. 1937-1941 demonstrated parabiotic nature of electro-sleep and local and general anaphylaxia. 1954 detected parabiosis-eliminating influences emanating from central nervous system.
Popularized therapeutic use of ionized air treatment. Wrote over 100 works.
