Leopold Gruner

Background

Leopold Gruner was born on October 4, 1839.

Education

In 1863, he had graduated medical faculty of University of Dorpat (today’s University of Tartu).

Career

In 1860’s he worked as a teacher in Ekaterinoslav (today’s Dnipro). In 1867-1869 he lived in one of noble steads as a tutor, and while there he delved into study of flora near Voronezh, Yelets and Zadonsk. The lush herbariums collected by Gruner are being kept in National University of Kharkiv.
