Career
He tore down the North and South fortress (Noorden het Zuidkasteel). While he was mayor of Antwerp, the Athenaeum was built, the Museum of Fine Arts, the Stuyvenberg hospital, the National Bank building in Antwerp, the Court of Justice and the theatre.
