Was Military Secretary to the G.O.C. expeditionary force, Egypt and the Nile, 1882 and 1884. Was Military Attache in St. Petersburg, Constantinople, and Berlin. Commanded 2nd Battalion Rifle Brigade, and 3rd Brigade, Aldershot.
Decorated: Companion of the Bath, Companion of St. Michael and St. George. Canadian medal, 1866. Egyptian medal, 1882 and 1884 (2 clasps).
Knight of Grace of the Order of St. John of Jerusalem. Jubilee medal and clasp for 1897. 1st class Crown Order and 1st class Red Eagle of Prussia, 3rd class Medjidie of Turkey, Khedivial star. C.B 1882; late commanding N.-W. District; retired.
